Globber Evo 4-in-1 Scooter Review and Giveaway

It's quite obvious I haven't blogged in a long time but when two Globber scooters arrived on my doorstep on Monday, I dusted the laptop off and put fingers to keys to introduce you to Globber and their new Evo 4-in-1 scooter.

The Globber EVO 4-in-1 is the perfect transitional scooter for any kid 12 months and up. As the name suggests, there are 4 configurations allowing the scooter to grow with your child. Stage one is a ride on/balance bike style scooter with two different height options with the option of parent assistance with the push handle. Once your child has mastered and outgrown stage one, you can easily (this mama and 4 year old Ned found it a breeze) transform it to a proper scooter, again, with the height being adjustable.

The scooter will comfortably hold up to 20kg in the first stage ride on version with seat, and up to 50kg when configured as a scooter.

This afternoon on the scooter's maiden test run, the twins (now 17 months) pretty quickly got the balance bike concept but also loved placing their feet on the deck for the full pushchair experience and who could blame them with the view?

I'm excited to see them develop and transition to master scooter just like their big brother.

At $160, this is an investment item compared to what you might pay for a scooter or balance bike at a mainstream department store but well worth it for the quality and longevity. Ned has been riding the My FREE Up scooter for over 18 months and although it is well loved in terms of use, the quality is still as good as when we received it.

Not only do I think the Evo is pretty cool, Australian Mother and Baby magazine awarded it a Gold Medal in the developmental toy category earlier this year.

Beaut Scooting with Globber

Keeping a super active two year old entertained all day is hard enough, let alone trying to encourage outdoor activity when you live somewhere full of hills, steep drops and general danger.

The purchase of our new home in the river side {flat} suburb of Maroochydore initiated my interest in sourcing out a bike or scooter suitable for Ned who turns three in August.

Enter Globber.

I was lucky enough to receive a scooter for Ned to try as well as an adult scooter for us to share to join in on the scooting fun and ever since we've received them Ned's request pretty much as soon as he gets out of bed is to 'do scooting Dad, come on'.

Ned's MyFREE Up which he has named Green Gecko is the perfect model for his age group and not having really scooted before he has picked it up amazingly well, impressing us with his technique and skill, and scaring me with his speed and risk taking. Luckily my heavily pregnant state excuses me from hours and hours of riding which also means he gets plenty of dad time in. This scooter is more expensive than your standard character scooter from Target but you can feel safe in the quality the extra expense delivers. The handle height is adjustable and is easily removed for transportation, it has an intuitive steering system {directional pivots or locked}, and there is a long and covered rear brake preserving the back wheel and saving your child's expensive shoes which they often initially use as the brake.

It took Ned a couple of rides to figure out the steering and the 'scoot, scoot, glide' technique but now there's no stopping him!

When our 18.0 by Kleefer scooter arrived both the husband and I didn't really know if we were cool enough {and whether the word 'cool' was actually even cool} to ride it. Again, the quality is top class but I won't pretend that I'm hip-to-the-jive {refer cool reference above} to know what I'm talking about specs-wise so you can read about that here. Instead, I'll tell you that just about every adult member of my family {including my 60+ year old parents} has ridden the scooter, AND enjoyed themselves without an accident to date. The scooter folds up neatly with an easy kick system and can be stored either at home or in the car, vertically or horizontally with ease.

Globber is a great option to investigate when thinking about purchasing a scooter and associated accessories and we LOVE ours here. I'd say in a couple of years we'll be adding a couple of more scooters to our collection {if these twins ever come!}

Meet my friend George {Foreman} - Mix & Go Review

 A few years ago I probably would have called you a wanker {in my head} if I saw you drinking a green juice/smoothie. Now, you might call me that. I've discovered I'm one of those people who prefers to drink their greens rather than eat them. Ned is the same.

When my morning routine doesn't allow a leisurely hour for the two year old to finish his Weet Bix {usually because he is fixated on Yo Gabba Gabba or the like}, I grab my supplies and whiz him up a vitamin and nutrient packed juice. The George Foreman Mix & Go allows me to quickly {and more importantly, easily} whip up a juice and head out the door for a busy day ahead.

George is a permanent fixture on my kitchen bench now as I use him multiple times a week and his poor cousin, the blender, has been banished to the cupboard. I was initially sceptical of George's ability to whiz up my go-to juice recipe {frozen green apple, spinach, lebanese cucumber, lemon juice, mint and water} but the 300 watt motor and blades are powerful enough to blend ice and frozen fruit. In addition to that, it's simple to clean.

Basically you add your ingredients to the BPA-free bottle, screw on the blade and whizz. The multi-purpose bottle allows you to mix your juice or smoothie up, pop on the included lid and go - literally Mix and Go!

The Mix & Go is super affordable {under $40} and does exactly what I need it to.

A friend bought one after hearing about mine and says:

Loveeeee it! I use it twice a day if not more. And making all my sauces from scratch in it - it's amazinggggg.

Trainee Mama Loves: Group Fitness

I'm one of those {what some people might call weird} people who LOVES going to the gym. It's been a part of me for quite a few years now and just is a part of my routine. In fact, I turned my love of {specifically} group fitness into a paid hobby as a Les Mills Pump group fitness instructor. For many years I attended a selection of classes at my local uni gym and formed a bit of a friendship with the group fitness manager who, for some reason, recognised my potential/strength/personality/who knows what and, after two years, convinced me to spend something like $1000 to study and train to become a pump {a weights class choreographed to music} instructor. Wowza, that was a long sentence kind of reminiscent of trainee daddy's uni assignments, before I got my editor on. Anyway, if you're trying to get into a bit of exercise and haven't tried group exercise, maybe you should give classes a go. Group exercise is great if you're competitive {which I totally am}, only takes up between 30 minutes to an hour and is a fabulous way of meeting new people or even better, making new friends {as well an excuse to buy cute workout gear and sneakers/trainers/joggers.}

If you're going to be getting into exercise you will need a good deodorant. Quite some time ago that lovely lady who convinced me to train to become a pump instructor mentioned some sort of revolutionary deodorant that she put on after her shower at night which kept her smelling beautiful and fresh all day even after doing a couple of classes. In her words, "yeah, apparently it reacts with your body while you sleep. It says 48 hours but I use it every night. I think it works. I haven't had anyone tell me I stink!!" 

That deodorant? Rexona Clinical Protection. As someone who quite often forgets to give the underarms a bit of attention {both with the razor and the nice-smelling-to-prevent-the-bad-smelling-stuff} this deo is your friend. Okay, it is a fair bit more expensive than your regular whatever-is-on-special-at-the-supermarket deodorant (around $12) but definitely worth it. As someone who often wakes up a bit wiffy, I'm excited to report that it works. I put the deodorant on after my shower on Friday night and was still smelling clean and fresh Saturday night {even after teaching a class Saturday morning and showering without reappling. I checked and so did miss Katy Potaty and we both concluded that this shiz works. 

Rexona Clinical for Women is now my go-to deodorant for sure. Give it a go if you're looking for a product that works.
