They say when you find a pair of jeans that fit you perfectly, buy at least two pairs.

I would do just that with these Mavi jeans except I bought them from an op shop. Seriously seven dollars of jean perfection that I bought, washed and then added to the pile of bottoms that only get to be worn for no more than about three months of the year. So I'd forgotten about them. Either that or they didn't fit when I bought them {a wishful purchase} and now they do!

 

Can we just talk about my Katies fashion coatigan too? Saw it, loved it and snagged it for a steal last winter. This winter I'm IN LOVE with the Waterfall Long line vest and will be keeping an eye out for a deal/sale so I can repeat last year's bargain buy.

I'm not one of those people who has a separate work wardrobe and luckily I work in an environment where donning the traditional corporate wear is not compulsory. That being said, I probably push the boundaries a little in some of my choices.

Case in point: This dress. 

Probably made to be worn by someone at least ten years my junior but hey. The colour and style appealed to me and it was on super special {I think $20} and it's the perfect dress to play along with Style and Shenanigans colour challenge today - pastel central!

I was browsing pinterest yesterday and spotted an outfit I loved featuring white ripped jeans and strappy heels. Knowing I had the perfect jeans and shoes in my wardrobe, it was quite easy getting dressed for work this morning. Throw on my new Hawes & Curtis hat and I was ready to go.

Way back in the early to mid-90s you would have seen me nearly every weekend sporting either a T&C or Piping Hot fluro cropped tee with denim shorts. Oh, and a pair of lace up boots that were quilted at the top.

Mine were brown faux leather and the quilting was patterned. Everyone had a pair.

Not only did they go with shorts, they were also worn with sun dresses usually from the label Cheetah or Finch.

Oh, and I can't forget the bike pants and tshirt set. Usually handmade by my aunty and LOVED by my twinnie Nessy and I.

Neon/Fluro might be so yesterday but my love affair is unwaivering many many years on.

I was recently contacted by Hawes & Curtis and asked to select a couple of pieces to add to my wardrobe. Hawes & Curtis are a UK company who have been in operation for over one hundred years who create and sell beautiful quality menswear, womenswear and accessories.

The classic white shirt is a wardrobe staple that was totally missing from my wardrobe ... but within reason. You see, having a young son ... Oh hell, I can't be trusted wearing a white shirt so I won't blame Ned for the reason I didn't have one. Within half an hour of wearing it I had splattered my green juice down the centre and will require a lesson from Julie Goodwin on the finer points of stain removal ... it's just as easy as vanish, and the stains are gone! ... isn't it?!

I've always been envious of women with boobs, hell, even men with boobs and know this would look so much better if I had an existent rack. But, it's an amazing quality, comfortable, loose fit {UK 12}shirt, and will sure get a workout over the coming months.

When you stare into your substantial, and mostly organised walk in wardrobe {with just your clothes - trainee daddy's clothes live elsewhere {in chaos, I might add}} on a Monday and have that nothing to wear moment, what do you do?

Select a pair of printed pants from your extensive collection, find a tank, slap on some sandals and you're ready to rock n roll. Or in my case, head to work.

Alternatively, you could also find whatever clothes match your breakfast of choice {in my case a spinach, frozen green apple, mint, lemon juice and water smoothie} and roll with that.

I've completed the start of the new year by filling up three bags full of unworn goodies. This year I'm going to strive to maintain a clutter-free wardrobe with pieces that I actually wear which are appropriate for my lifestyle, the heat of the area in which I live and which don't break the bank.

Printed pants for me are a wardrobe staple. Simply pair them with a tank, silk longline top, singlet, a pair of sandals and your most fabulous necklace or earrings and you're ready to go. They come in a gazillion different patterns, practically everyone sells them and generally they are lightweight meaning you can wear them throughout the year. Best of all, they do not require ironing*

Mama Wardrobe: Here's the news, I let him choose

I took the bold step of letting my husband choose my outfit yesterday morning and from quite a few reports, most think he did well and some even suggested that I gave him a bit of guidance or help {which I didn't!} He wasn't as enthusiastic as I wanted him to be but when I asked him what I should wear he said 'skirt and top' ... So I got my skirts out and he narrowed it down to two ... and then followed with sleeveless tops because of this ridiculous heatwave we are currently having. He decided on the shoes and that I should wear my hair up but declared himself out when I started talking about earrings and bangles.

I bought this dress in two colours {orange and white} last week from Dotti. It was marked at $29.95 but with a further fifty percent off meant I just had to buy two.

I've been a bit hesitant to wear this pencil skirt from Sussan (purchased on sale for $30ish) fearing I might show too much lumpage and bumpage but think perhaps the peplum top might hide some of those imperfections ... unfortunately I don't have 'all the right junk in all the right places'

Oh, and these heels were a steal at $29 marked down from $190 at Myer on the weekend!

I have quite a diverse taste in clothes and wear a plethora of different styles, colours and patterns. Working at a university does give me some freedom to express myself through my clothing choices which I take full advantage of. I CANNOT imagine having to dress for a private corporate environment!

I posted an #everydaystyle pic up on instagram and my twin sister wrote 'i have exactly the same kaftan' ... yes, we sure are identical twins!

Kmart has really impressed of late with catalogues full of {very} affordable, fashionable and functional items both for your home and family. It's a store I don't visit too often as it is at the opposite end of the shopping centre to where I normally park and truth be told, I get lazy. But while trainee daddy was off getting a haircut yesterday morning, the little dude and I ventured in and we didn't leave empty handed.

The Maroochydore store {on the Sunshine Coast} has had a complete makeover and looks fantastic. Kudos to you Kmart!
